The Rock-Afire Explosion
Our restoration of The Rock-Afire Explosion show at DreamFactory was a long and tedius one, here you can see multiple tasks done to restore this show to its former glory and even upgrading it along the way.
Pre-Restoration
When we started on this show, it was in a terrible state, nothing worked at all, and there was no electrical system or pneumatic air supply system.

The animatronics themselves were in a sorry state both cosmetically and mechanically.

Mechanical Restoration
Main priority was restoring the mechanics into 100% working order this was done in a very timely manner.
We also to make this show unique, implemented a turntable to automatically switch between the characters "Rolfe DeWolfe" and "Uncle Klunk", who share the same stage, originally the switch out was done manually.

Cosmetics
For our cosmetic replacements we did intense research into how they would of looked originally, for many character masks we re-sculpted them using the original as a basis.
For fur and clothing we made patterns based off the existing damaged pieces and re-made many which were too far gone to reliably use again.

Backdrops/Theming
Many new backdrops were designed by our design team, cut from wood and painted by our artists. we replicated the original artstyle expertly to match up with the rest of the shows aesthetic and theming.

Turntable
We added a automatic turntable to the stage right, this is integrated with our control system and allows quick switching between the two characters "Rolfe DeWolfe" and "Uncle Klunk", in the original setup, switching would require the complete uninstallation of one character to switch it to the other, but now both can be on standby at the same time and even switch over in the middle of a song.

Television
For extra interactivity with this show we implemented this television add-on, this can be used to display media along side the show; music videos, quizzes, artwork, etc. We based this off an official television add-on this show could of had in one point of its original life, this being a comical "rabbit ears" television. The television body is a hand-crafted and hand-painted wooden frame with animatronic rabbit ears we designed placed on top, these rabbit ears dance along to the music with custom programming added on to the shows songs.

Electrical System
We designed a new electrical boards for this show to convert the system to run on the local power supply and be less of a fire risk, we also switched out the halogen stage lights for new LED stage lights, lowering the power usage and potential fire risk.
The shows control system was also replaced with a digital computer based system to replace the old worn out and unreliable analogue based system, the new system is also capable of running video along side of the band and has endless song programming abilities.
